Drynan Park weekend
5th and 6th november
2016
With short notice given to members of the Australian
CamperTrailers Group, we had a good roll up of 13 camps. Members rigs are
changing all the time with a couple more members opting out of softfloor
campers and going for a hybrid and caravan.
three camper trailers: Gary - Retro, Les - Guardian SUV,
Ray - Ultimate
two pull out campers: Kevin & Kathleen - Goldstream, John & Cheryl -
Jayco Swift
three hybrids: Robyn & Lindsay - Pacific Allymaster, Kathy & Alan - Pacific
Vision, Rod & Rachel - Lifestyle Reconn
five caravans: Ian & Dianne - Crusader, Greg & Lisa - Starcraft, Rick &
Carol - Supreme, John & Penny - Sunland Patriot, Ian & D’sley - Jurgens.
The hosts having been camping nearby at the Border Ranges
the weekend before arrived nice and early on the Tuesday and had a very
quiet time waiting for the rest of the group to arrive on varying days.
The days of the weekend were a little on the warm side
but still cool at night for sleeping. We were lucky that we had a breeze
most of the days to help cool us down a little. A number of people and
especially the kids made use of the various waterholes and rapids to cool
themselves down as well as sitting under any big shade structure around.
John and Penny’s awning was just the place with awning out plus the side up
and out as well gave a good piece of shade. The Patriot was well visited on
the weekend.
Morning tea was held under the shade of the big gum trees
but as normal shade kept moving and so did the people. We were lucky we had
it early as other campers not in our group were looking for places to set up
camp and later in the day the spot was taken.
As the nights were not that cold we had a smallish
community fire to enjoy the ambience of the area with many conversations and
much laughter.
Gary trialed his new retro barbque/fire pit and cooked up
a storm. Lots of campfire and cooking tips and ideas were shared around his
camper trailer by the three solo travellers.
Thank you to all for making it a great camp once again
and we look forward to the next one.
