SE Qld members meet at Andrew Drynan Park Held on the weekend of Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th of November 2005
Andrew Drynan Park is in Queensland on a minor road which crosses the Queensland / NSW border. It has clean flush toilets, large grassy sites (the park is huge) fireplaces, a clean flowing creek and views from every site. The cool and inviting child friendly creek proved popular with young and old(er) on the warm days we encountered. Numbers were slightly down on previous meets. Maybe getting a bit warm, the threat of storms, or just the lack of showers. Nevertheless it was a good turnout of a happy group of: 10 camper trailers, 22 adults, 11 children & 6 dogs – including Rob & Dianne who visited for the day while their CT is in dock. The weather was reasonably kind to us. The days and Sunday night were fine, storms & rain on Thursday night, rain on Friday & Saturday nights. Didn’t do much for campfire yarns although Sunday night was great. I somehow or other forgot to mention to Kathy that nobody else was arriving Thursday, then I set up too close to the northern tree line (so no TV) – she intends taking a closer interest in the logistics in future. Almost all of the crew were in by Friday night. Roland and Pam arrived later on Saturday and Jill and Erin rolled in very late on Saturday night after a very long drive. The furthest travel award though goes to Richard, Sharon and Rhiann from Taree/Sydney. Morning tea on Saturday was as usual an opportunity for first timers to meet everybody under a shady tree on a warmish morning. A good outcome of this get together was that several of our number volunteered to host meets in the February to July period. More on that later. Saturday afternoon included a general discussion and information exchange on 12 volt wiring, connectors and batteries. It was great catching up with the now regular get together friends as well as meeting more new faces. Alan & Kathy
