Hema 4 wheel Drive Tracks for Navman GPS.

Post by GEOFF.PAULINE » Mon Jul 28, 2014 4:26 pm

Hi everybody.

Navman are offering the Hema map for $ 35.00 on their site to suit my GPS.

Anyone with any experience of how good they are ?

Thanks for any advice in advance.

Hi.

I may have been to specific with the above entry, I was just wondering if their maps in general are good , with details you need for finding / navigating tracks.

Hi Geoff,

Kev Beckwith will be hosting a Hema maps for Ipads talk at the national meet.

We have a Hema navigator HN5i & find them very useful just driving along the road for general landscape feature knowledge ie names of lakes & mountains & also excellent for bush track navigation.

Also if you have the Camps Australia Wide book, they use the Hema maps so it is very easy to look between the book & digital maps. We also have the Hema map book which has the maps a little larger than Camps Australia Wide.

I have them on my Navman, they are not new maps as such.
When off road it shows the normal map style and has the names on it.
I think there is some extra campsite info etc you can drill into as well.
See you on the track

G'day

I recently purchased a Navman MyEscape 2 based on it having the Hema 4WD maps and the ability to connect a reverse camera to it.

Some how while updating the maps, I deleted the 4WD maps and various other details from it. Contacted Navman support. but was unable to reinstall the lost files after going through every thing with s Customer Service person, step by step. In the end, I had to send it to Navman for them to reinstall the lost files. Was sent last week, Wednesday 13 August and was told the turn around time is 5 to 10 work days.

What little time I had used it, there were different map options for car, truck and 4WD. I am led to believe that one of the map planning option is to use 4WD/tracks only. Got my holidays in two weeks and I am hoping to be heading up to Glen Innes via most non highways and main roads. Hope to give it a good testing then.

Maybe when I get it back, I might be able to add other voices like the TomTom.

Will put an update if anyone would like one or perhaps see you in Glen Innes for the meet up.
Hope to get my Navman back soon and to see how it goes, what I have seen I am happy enough with, except I can't add different voices like my wife's TomTom (I like the Tom Thomas the pirate voice, but my wife hates it)

Hi Grant,

You would be more than welcome to bring your Navman MyEscape 2 to the Hema maps on iPad workshop at Glen Innes & let everyone know your thoughts.

Luckily when I did an update of the street maps on our Hema navigator I did a backup first as I found when I went to use it I had wiped out the Australian maps & downloaded New Zealand maps.

Hi all

Sorry I left out one slight detail in my post here.

The Navman MyEscape 2 use the Hema 4WD maps. That's why I included it in this post.

Thought I better add an explanation why I posted it here.

Grant
