dangers of gas heaters in confined spaces

Post by robcaz » Mon Apr 20, 2015 11:23 am

Hi all,

At the start of the cold weather I usually post a reminder about the use of gas heaters in confined areas such as camper trailers. Please make sure the tent area is well ventilated so dangerous carbon monoxide will not build up.

Carbon monoxide is a colourless and odourless gas, slightly lighter than air. It is formed whenever any carbon-based substance, which is most substances, is burned with an inadequate supply of air. Even when there is adequate air, carbon monoxide is produced if the burning reaction is only partly complete.

Please find my article on the campertrailers.org tech tips page http://www.campertrailers.org/heater_dangers.htm
