The spitting problem is explained on the Caravan Plus website under the 'cycling of the pump' heading http://caravansplus.com.au/catalog/help ... ectric.php

You can quieten the water pump noise by insulating the pump from the mounting surface & using a flexible hose http://www.campertrailers.org/quietenin ... r_pump.htm

If the pump does not pull a head you could place a non return valve near the outlet in the tank.

well i took back the jabsco par max 1 pump got refund and whitworths sold me another jabsco pump, its the par max 2.9, 11 lpm, 50 psi, but this pump has a built in pulsation reducer which they say can eliminate the need to have a accumulation tank, i was a bit unsure as its more lpm and higher psi so how is it going to turn down low, anyway i tested it and its much better but still not as slow as i would like,
jabsco told me to unscrew the small end plate and under this i will find a screw that will adjust the pressure water flow, i gave it 1 and a half turns clock wise and i got the flow down to a reasonable slower rate and pump still runs smooth, if i turn tap on full i get more than enough flow, so bottom line it seems to be ok, and this pump will self prime to 3 metres, much better than the smaller pump it was only able to prime to 1 vertical metre, and even better this pump is $20 cheaper than the smaller pump, go figure that one
all testing was just from bucket now i got to hook it up to the campers tank and see how it goes but i'm confident it will be ok, and this time am mounting under camper so hopefully less noisy, although this pump even though its bigger seemed a bit quieter.....anyway will mount it properly and do final test next week...

Good to hear Whitworths looked after you. I can see from their catalogue the 2.9 is on special. Hope it works out and thanks for sharing your experience as it has been a learning exercise. I am about to upgrade my Shurflow pump in the Avan as it has developed a problem since you started this thread. I looked at getting spare parts but as I am unsure of where the problem is the parts may have cost close to the price of a new pump.

Great thread I think we gave all learned a bit about water pumps.

Our Flojet water pump is part of the Glind hot water heat exchanger that we have had since 1995 & has served us well. As well as providing the hot water for showers it also now serves to pump water from jerrys to the water tank through the BEST Water Filter. At one stage it was not pumping water, so I pulled the diaphragm out & gave it a clean, I though there may have been something in it, but all was ok. I put it back together & it hasn't missed a beat. I always use an inline filter in the hose going to the pump.

A diaphragm kit is around $30

Glind now have a more modern version of the pump for sale with a variable flow rate

yesterday i mentioned about a screw under the front cover of the par max 2.9 that apparently adjusts the pressure switch, under the cover i found 1 phillips screw, and 1 allen head screw, i turned the phillips head screw 1.5 turns and i thought it made a difference , but i re-tested today and not sure really, its hard to tell as turning the handle on tap isnt really precision fine so flow is touchy, so i thought maybe its the allen head screw i'm supposed to turn to adjust the pressure switch, well i been searching the net trying to find answers which screw to turn, and which way to turn,

the jabsco dealer here in brookvale told me to adjust screw but didnt say which screw, they are closed on weekends but i'll be calling on monday, whitworths also agreed that i can adjust screw to set pressure switch

so i rang a jabsco importer repair specialist in brisbane, he said defiantly do not touch or adjust screw, he said it will void warranty and screw it set at factory and should not be touched

so now what , who do you believe, try finding a straight answer on this question, but i'm now starting to believe its set as is and thats it, but bottom line it does flow pretty good at lower volume, though its a bit touchy, like to low and pump runs ruff, but if you turn tap slow to the right spot it seems to flow lower ok , anyway i'll be calling the jabsco outlet on monday......

I use a shower rose set up for a side shower on my camper trailer...so on ebay I found a 5lt per minute pump works fine for the shower as a normal shower turns over 9lts a minute.

well i went down to jabsco australia in brookvale today, i took the pump with me with cover plate off, i asked the boss guy there what screw to turn to adjust pressure, he said its the phillips head screw as i turned last week, its not the allen key screw , i explained how i called the jabsco outlet in brisbane and how the guy there ( gordon ) said defiantly do not turn any screws, well the brookvale guy said why not its ok go ahead turn the screw and see what effect it has on pressure,

so jabsco brisbane say dont touch it, jabsco brookvale say go ahead no problem, yeah buggered if i know who do u trust.....

so as said i have already turned that phillips screw and i think it helped to smooth out the flow at low volume, but i am going test some more turning screw both ways, i'll be mounting the pump this week to the underside of trailer i got a aluminium bash plate bend up to mount and house the pump under trailer, i will plumb it into the trailers water tank and see how it works with a bit of turning the screw ect, i have only tested so far from a bucket of water, fingers crossed it all works and isnt too noisy under trailer....

ok all done, fitted pump under camper and plumbed to tank, and installed this swivel tap, http://camec.com/plumbing-water-gas/tap ... -hand.html it all works, then i had a go at turning that phillips screw under the front cover, i think it smoothed out flow a bit but i started getting a few leaks in the connections , hose clamps at bends ect, so not sure but adjusting this screw apparently adjusts the pressure switch , so maybe pressure went up and caused the leaks, dont know , so bugger it i set it back to factory setting, adjusted hose clamps and have no leaks now, not sure if it was the adjustment i did or just loose clamps
but really the difference in flow after adjusting wasn't that noticeable so i figure leave it factory, its fine just a bit strong in the flow, but i'll get used to it but not sure about the kids, the tap is a bit touchy , if i wiggle the tap handle the flow changes slightly, i think a higher quality tap might give a finer adjustment on the flow , this tap appears ok but there would be better, thats something i might look into later, ok had enough of this job , thanks for the input.....
