Trailer storage drawers

Post by Glasvegascamper » Fri Jul 22, 2016 10:47 pm

Hi All,
I'm looking for feedback from people who have put drawers in their trailer.
I have Titan drawers in my truck and am thinking of getting the Titan ute drawers to put in the tub of my trailer as they look like they would fit and work well.
Any feedback is welcome.
Thanks guys.

Hi Glasvegascamper,

On the tech tips page you will find under the storage heading some ideas from members of how they have gone about adding storage draws http://www.campertrailers.org/tech_tips.htm

I made two ply draws in the box trailer of our Track Trailer Eagle & have added four teflon low friction skids as used on boat trailers http://www.campertrailers.org/group/vie ... ?f=8&t=330

We found using several plastic storage boxes in the box trailer of the camper was a real pain, mainly because the item we wanted always seemed to be in the box right at the front of the trailer, so we had to lift all the boxes out onto the ground and load them all back in again.

I made two ply boxes with carpet glued on the bottom so they would slide over the trailer bottom and not damage the hot dip galvanising. The boxes pull out onto the tailgate so we can access the back of them. I made a support leg for each draw & a large wing nut. One box is made to fit our folding camping table which covers our clothes and makes for a little more dust proofing.

I ended up screwing four teflon low friction skids used on boat trailers to the bottom of the trailer for the ply draws to slide on. They now pull in and out very easy http://www.robcaz.net/sliding_draws.htm

You will find designs on the net to provide sliding draws using roller skate bearings. Some manufactured draw slides which have a 200kg load capacity may also be suitable.
