kenilworth showgrounds weekend
alternative atkinson's dam venue
Saturday 11th to Sunday 12th June, 2022

Lindsay and I were looking forward to returning to Atkinson's Dam to see it
at 100 percent full as the last time the group visited it was three percent.
Then the phone call that we thought might come from the scouts informing us
that we had to unfortunately postpone due to the grounds still being too
soggy. This set off a chain reaction, emails and texts to all informing of
cancellation . Lots of sad faces and then chats on where to go at last
minute. We were lucky to be able to secure a booking at the Kenilworth
Showgrounds for the same dates. More emails and texts advising the change of
venue which suited nearly all on the list of coming.
Kenilworth Showgrounds proved to be a great spot for the group to spend some
time and we were blessed with fine weather. The unpowered area we were
allotted had very large sites to set up in. A short walk out of the grounds
and we were on the main road where members partook in cheese tasting, trying
different pies and donuts from the bakery and we even had a market to walk
around on the Saturday.
Nights were a little cool so members off the ground fire pits were put to
good use. Thanks to Rick and Carol, Rob and Dianne, Kevin and Kathleen, Greg
and Kerry adding to ours to keep the members warm.
Afternoon tea on the Saturday was made extra special as Kathleen presented a
cake to celebrate Lindsay and Kathy’s birthday on the Sunday and Robs the
weekend before. They even had to wear party hats.
Thank you to members John and Penny, Greg and Lisa, Ian and Dianne, Matt and
Wendy, Mike and Robyn, Kevin and Kathleen, Mark and Fi, Greg and Kerry, Rob
and Dianne, Rick and Carol and Ian and Collette who had the only canvas
trailer and day visitors Ian and Ali and Shane and Nikki plus family for
joining us at Kenilworth Showgrounds and making it a great long weekend
away.
