burgess park weekend

Saturday 22nd to Sunday 23rd March, 2014

The camp was established by Paul, having arrived on the Thursday and was well setup by the time the rest of us started to arrive on the Friday. Gregory & Angela, followed by Alan & Kath, next Ian & Des, then Michael & Helen with a full load of fire wood. Mark & Narelle (first timers), were on the park Friday, but being first timers, decided not to join the night time fire but introduced themselves & joined in at morning tea on the Saturday morning. Late (9pm) Gus & Gill arrived & set up in the dark!! Gus said he would not know how to set up in day-light??? They had made the trip from Moree.

During Saturday Peter & Adrienne, who were camped at the Rathdowney Caravan Park, called in, in time for morning tea, & introduced them selves, wanting to know about the set up with Campertrailers.org.

Michael saw fit to light-up his wood, ready for the “happy hour” on Friday, which burned well into the night, he maintained control of said fire with his trusty shovel which had a brand new long handle. He was a bit slow on the Saturday fire & needed a bit of prompting (after all it was his wood).

As always Paul kept those around the fire entertained with his stories, Ian found the need to sing some ditties from the “Barry McKenzie” time zone & surprisingly was joined by Mark!! this in itself needed some kind of explanation??

The weather was fine & warm with the exception of a shower (10 minutes) Saturday afternoon. Really did not settle the dust

This writer is not familiar with “cobb cooking”, how-ever Gus had his roast going for 5 hours & it was still not cooked enough to eat by the time I went to bed 9pm??? Although the camp was a small one, all had a good time, most had gone by mid-day, on Sunday, with Gregory & Angela, leaving early in the after-noon. This left Ian & Des, with their 2 dogs, to enjoy the drone of the water pump in the creek on the Sunday night
