			NSWcallala
			beach weekend

	Saturday 29th to Sunday 30th October, 2011

The Australian Campertrailers Group  weekend get together was held in
conjunction with the Black Diamond Recreation & 4wd Club on private property
in Callala Beach on the NSW south coast.

Last year all attendees enjoyed the weekend & a decision to re-run the meet
was put into place. The weather was a concern as the possibility of
drenching rain the previous week would jeopardize the weekend which meant
the meet would have been cancelled. Well the Gods were kind and we were
given the all clear by the consulting committee.

	Most campers arrived during the
course of the day, setting up camps on the grassy location amongst the tall
gums. The award has to go to Gary & Jackie for taking so long to decide on a
perfect camp spot, while entertaining the on-lookers. Well we’ll excuse them
this time as new comers to the group attending their first meet.

During the evening most of the
arrivals made the short walk to the country club for dinner and to try our
luck in the Friday night club raffle. The only lucky ones to win a prize
	were Jackie & Gary.

The camping ground was looking quite
full by now with many members arrived overnight and early morning.

Carolyn invited us all to attend a
cooking demonstration & accompanied by her assistant Sharon, gave a cooking
demo using her volcano. Mouths watered as the aroma of cooking Baclava
pastries teased the taste buds of all onlookers who anxiously waited for the
	final product to be tested.

After lunch the Black Diamond 4wd
club hosted a drive around the local forest, 17 vehicles lined up ready to
go. Trev gave a briefing on the trip and away they went. Allan & I remained
back at camp for some R&R. At approximately 3:30pm a very muddy convoy
returned, drivers pumping with adrenalin as they discussed their days
experiences. I hear some vehicles became stuck in mud and required snatching
	to be released.

Now time for happy hour, the kids
dressed up in Halloween costumes to trick or treat the crowd and be rewarded
with sweet things. Happy  hour saw the campers gather for the judging
of Allan’s 'find the 13 towns competition', which was won by Terry & Brenda
	with a perfect score.

	Unfortunately at this stage the
heavens opened up with everyone running for cover in all directions. The
majority ending up under Leanne & Tony’s awning for shelter to continue
	happy hour.

By 6:30pm most of the group headed
up to the club to attend the fishing club presentation night when they were
treated once more to some fine food and entertainment. There was another
raffle to support the fishing club & many prizes won by our members. As well
as the adults, the kids also depleted their energy intake in various ways
dancing the night away to the disco music.

Awoke to a glorious sunny day. The
4wd club hosted another drive this time along the powerlines. All
participants, keen to do it all again. The convoy lined up, drivers briefed
& we headed down the road to access the track. Fun was had by all
participant as the convoy traversed along a muddy trail. At one stage
someone required assistance and & snatched out of a deep rut on the track.
Now with time quickly running out, the convoy returned to camp for lunch,
then the finally packing camp ready for the journey back home. Another great
	weekend enjoyed by all.
your hosts Allan & Mary Anne
