WHERE.
Gum Flats
Canungra Scout Den and Campground.
WHEN.
Saturday 25th to Sunday 26th January 2025.
GETTING THERE.
Canungra Scout Campground is on Beechmont Road, Canungra, immediately opposite
Sharp Park, the first section where the manager lives and before the bridge.
THE ROAD.
The road is suitable for
all vehicles including 2wds, with only a
200 metre drive across a grass paddock to where we will be camping near the creek.
MAKING ARRANGEMENTS.
If you would like to attend please add your name to the
attendance form provided. The address of the form can be found in the Australian
CamperTrailers forum under the Upcoming Events heading or as a
'featured' posts at the top of the
Australian
CamperTrailers Facebook Group
ARRIVING.
The gates will be open
from
Wednesday 22nd & closed on Wednesday 29th January. You
are more than welcome to arrived & depart when you wish over the week.
SITES.
There are only unpowered sites available where
we will camp near the creek, however there is 240volt power at the Scout Den, about 200 metres from the rest of the
group.
COST.
$5 per person per night,
managers will attend site to collect payment.
WATER. Please bring your own drinking water. There is limited drinking water
available in a rainwater tank.
CAMPFIRES are allowed. The lighting of fires will depend
on Total Fire Bans rules.
FIREWOOD. Please bring firewood along.
AMENITIES.
There is a basic amenities block
with cold showers & flushing toilets.
DOGS are allowed & must be on a lead at all times.
RUBBISH. Please take your rubbish home with you.
Under no circumstance are the bins across the road at Sharp Park River Bend
Country Bush Camping to be used to dispose of rubbish.
MORNING CLEAN
UP. The Scout
Group has been most appreciative during past weekend get togethers the
Australian CamperTrailers Group has volunteered to mow & whippersnip around the
buildings within the grounds. This is not compulsory, however if you would like to
participate, please bring your own brushcutters, mowers etc including boots,
gloves &
safety gear. We anticipate spending a couple of hours on one morning to be
announced, before it gets too hot & then sit back and enjoy the fruits of our labour
ie improved access to the river. Please indicate on the attendance form what
equipment you will bring.
THINGS TO DO. You can drive up the mountain to
O'Reilly's or Binna Burra, drop into the historic Canungra pub for a meal, visit
local wineries, swim in the adjacent creek, or just relax and enjoy the company.
ACTIVITIES. Please bring your own drinks & nibbles
to the center
of camp for happy hour at a time to be announced.
Come sit &
relax with a bunch of like minded people. Check the modifications others have done to
their camper trailers to make camping life all that more enjoyable. You might
meet as complete strangers, but will part old friends such
is the camaraderie.
You do not need a camper trailer to attend. Members without a camper are more
than welcome to come along & get a first hand unbiased opinion of a particular
camper trailer from their owners. Come along & meet the faces behind the typing.
You are also very welcome to drop in for the day.
Please keep in mind that the group owners will not accept any responsibility
for members & non-members actions during the weekend get together. If you decide to attend, it is solely at your own responsibility, including any
side trips or outings during the weekend meet.
