Easter long weekend
Members are invited
to attend the next group get together at Caringal Scout Camp near
Tyers Junction, Victoria.

in the poll two weeks before the meet. Please reply to confirm your attendance.

YOUR HOST for the long weekend will be Ian and
Sandra Paul.
WHEN. Over the Easter long weekend from
Friday 10th to Monday 13th April 2009.
WHERE. Caringal Scout Camp, Walhalla Road, Tyers
Junction, Victoria.
CAMPSITES.
The sites are well grassed & fairly level. There are no trees so you will need
to bring some sort of shade. There is a shed area opposite us but there will
also be other people there.
PLEASE NOTE.
There are only 10 camper trailer sites available. The first 10 names in the
poll will only be accepted.
GETTING THERE.
From Melbourne turn off the freeway at the McDonalds exit at Moe and travel into
town via (Lloyd St).

At the level crossing turn left over the crossing then follow the road
around to the right (Waterloo Rd).

» At the
roundabout turn left (Savages Rd Dellatorre Rd) and follow this road to the end.
» At the
T intersection turn left (Moore St) and travel down to the roundabout.
» At the
roundabout turn left and travel for about 28 Kms along Walhalla Rd.
» You will
see a signpost at the right hand side 'Caringal Scout Camp 6kms' pointing to the
left.
» Turn
left here (Telbit Rd) & drive for 6kms till you will come to a T intersection
with a concrete bridge on the left.
» Turn
right and follow the road into the camp.
» We will
try to put up some balloons from the Telbit Road exit.
THE ROAD. The 6kms of dirt road is in very good
condition and mostly two cars wide.
BOOKING. Individual bookings are not necessary. Ian
and Sandra have reserved 10 sites. The rest of the area is booked out over
Easter.
CAMPING FEES. $5.00 per person per night.
Children under 5 free.
CAMPFIRES. Only in the fire drums provided.
FIREWOOD. You need to provide your own firewood.
It will be an advantage if everyone brings some wood along. We are not allowed
to collect wood in the campsite. Ian & Sandra will bring as much as they can.
WATER. There is water available from the Tyres
River, but please bring your own drinking water.
AMENITIES.
There are three toilets and showers a short walk from where we will
be camped, but it would be an advantage to bring your own portable
chemical toilet along.
RUBBISH. Rubbish bags will be provided and we are
to leave them out on the road for pickup each day.
DOGS are welcome, but required to be on a lead at
all times.
POWER. There are no powered sites.
MOBILE PHONES. There is no mobile phone service at
the campsite. The camp manager will take messages and you can use
his phone in an emergency. phone 03 5165 3210 There is phone service
in Erica.
CB RADIO. CB radio would be an advantage. Our
official radio channel is UHF 18
SERVICES. Erica is approx 10kms away with pub & a
general store which makes it's own bread daily & also a coffee shop.
Rawson is approx 14kms with fuel , swimming pool, tennis courts &
paintball.
Things to see and do. Gold mining
township in Walhalla. Long tunnel mine in Walhalla. Cemetery in Walhalla . Mt
Erica, mushroom rocks, fishing, bushwalks & 4 wheel driving. Ian is
willing to take anyone who would like on a tour of the old mountain huts. We
will have maps of the local area.
You do not need a camper
trailer to attend. Members without a camper are more than welcome to
come along & get a first hand unbiased opinion of a particular
camper trailer from their owners. Come along & meet the faces behind
the typing. You are also very welcome to drop in for the day.
Please keep in mind that the group owners will not accept any responsibility
for members & non-members actions during the weekend get together.
If you decide to attend, it is solely at your own responsibility,
including any side trips or outings during the weekend meet.
