Re: Towing a Camper Trailer and using a Bike Carrier
Hi.
Just been reading this post and I guess the number plate light is the thing most people would forget.
Although here in NSW we now have plates that are any colour you want , if you pay , including dark blue letters on black background , pink on red background etc.
My point is you could not read these if they had a flood light on them.
Has anybody else noticed this.
With the bike situation we have a forward fold camper and we put a rack on it , then lay the bike in it.
Hope you find what you need .
Geoff.

Thanks JRad, I will add the WA laws to the list above. Getting closer to putting an article together on all the states for the campertrailers.org tech tips page.

Thank you... just the information that was needed. I have a mounting hitch on the swing bar of the spare wheel carrier to plug a bike rack into.
Now just have to make sure that a) the whole lot doesn't stick out more than 1.2m and b) that the number plate is visible....
cheers

Can I ask what the mounting hitch looks like, a pic, and where you got it?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Towing a Camper Trailer and using a Bike Carrier
It was an option that came with the "Cuboose", my cub camper trailer.
I'll get you a photo over the weekend but it is basically a short length of the square tube of the tow hitch receiver with a flat oversize base plate welded to the trailer end of it. Four holes in the base plate allow it to be bolted to the swing away arm for the spare tyre with U-bolts. Slot in the tow hitch/bike rack and pin as normal.
I've still to source a suitable bike rack to fit into it, a visit to either my local trailer parts store or tow bar manufacturer should sort it.
cheers

Rhino Rack have a bike carrier that goes into the square hitch for $296, up to 4 bikes. Works well. I also got a number plate bar from them with all rear lights - tail, stop, blinkers - that plugs into trlr lights outlet for about $70-80 which is about a qtr of the fine if your done for not being able to see the number plates and/or rear lights.
