My soft floor camper came with an awning just 2metres wide which is easy to put up but I would like it a bit wider - even if only by 50cm.
The thing is - it does not currently require crossbars - something I don't want to be bothered with and there is nowhere to attach them to anyway. Any thoughts on how wide a canvas awning can go before needing crossbars??? Should I forget this idea and keep going with the current system which involves an array of welding clamps and tarps to increase the outdoor area.
Yours indeed Pratski.

Re: Camper trailer awning
Have you thought about setting up a fly sheet over the top of your tent?

I've got this beauty, 5500mm x 5600mm, very light weight , water proof, easy set up.
Hope it helps!

Re: Camper trailer awning
Hi Pratski,
As long as you no not use heavy canvas I think you will be able to get away with perhaps a 2.5 metre wide awning without using spreader bars.
The 12oz canvas awning on our Track Trailer Eagle was 2.2 metres wide with only three tent poles to keep it up. It held its shape easily http://www.robcaz.net/cobarkpic2.JPG
With the new canvas made from 14oz it sags, so needs a ridge bar & side bars to support the weight http://www.robcaz.net/morettpics35.JPG
You can see in the above photo from the apex to the corner of the longer edge sags. I have made up another pole with C fittings as a spreader to hold the shape better.
