That's our hitch!

Post by Dexdoggy » Fri Jan 29, 2016 7:25 am

Just notice a picture has been added on your tech tips of a hitch that looks identical to ours... a Nathan Hitch (?!)

We have this on our trailer and station wagon; it is quite secure but can be a little ornery when putting it on when away on rough ground (you have to get it perfectly aligned to push the "T" Coupling Pin through)

Can anyone tell us about this hitch? Can we get spare/replacement "T" Pin that secures it? I only noticed the other week what appears to be a grease nipple; should I give it a grease now an then?

Hi Rick & Cherrie,

Sorry I do not know who used to make the Nathan hitch, but O'Brien Camper Trailers used to manufacturer the Orac Coupling which is very similar. Perhaps the pin may fit. You can contact them via their website http://obrien.obrien.fastmail.com.au/

Other than that a fabrication shop would be able to make a pin up for you.

Yes you should give the nipple a bit of grease every now & then to let the coupling rotate freely.

If you put the jockeywheel down on a baseplate you will be able to move the trailer around more freely to align the two parts to slip the pin in.

When you wind the jockeywheel down watch for the weight to come off the pin as you will find the pin slips out easy with no weight on it.

Hope this helps.
