I'm setting up my trailer with 12v for lighting etc. using "Rob & Carol's trailer wiring diagram". Can you connect your solar panel into your "Anderson" plug that would normally plug into your vehicle?

Re: Trailer Wiring
Hi Waz,
In our Rob & Carol's wiring diagram for the Redarc BCDC1225 the blue wire from the Redarc goes back though a spare pin of the trailer plug ie reverse pin, to the positive of the vehicles Anderson http://www.campertrailers.org/redarcbcdcinstall5a.jpg
When the trailer plug & Anderson are connected to the vehicle the BCDC1225 works as a DC to DC charger from the alternator through power from the blue wire.
When the trailer plug & Anderson are disconnected from the vehicle & the unregulated output from the solar panel is connected to the Anderson on the camper, the BCDC1225 works as a MPPT solar regulator. There is no power to the blue wire.
If you cannot understand any of that please feel free to pm me & I will chat with you on the phone.
That is the simplest way other than using the Redarc RK1260 relay which is a setup perfect for a van with the panel permanently on the roof. When you turn the tow vehicles engine off the solar panel will automatically cut in http://www.campertrailers.org/redarcbcdcinstall4.JPG
Hope that helps.

Re: Trailer Wiring
Thanks Rob, I was pretty sure that's how it worked, just confirmation so I can finish it off.
