CUB camper side access hatch latch/locking mechanism
Hi everyone, were heading off on our annual trip in 4 weeks & need some help with above mentioned door latch on the drivers side of our 2002 cub drover. Basically it rattles open. After closer inspection it looks like the actual latch mechanism on the inside of the hatch cant make its mind up about opening up properly or not. Ive WD40'd & it will now actually shut but it still rattles open. We had this issue last year before we left for the cape, had a caravan shop apparently fix it but the problem is back. Kinda don't want to use gaffa tape again! Is there anyone in Brisbane that could fix/advise that knows what there doing. Im thinking of taking it into CUB in Mt Gravatt this Sat but would expect this could be a more expensive option. Any help appreciated, cheers

G'day moseyroc I think your best bet is to take it to Cub, they have the experience to deal with their own, and you have already tried elsewhere without permanent success. Just my 2c's worth. Kerry

Hi moseyroc,
I am not familiar with the Cub, so asking....Do you lock the latch when it is closed?
I had a situation on my soft floor camper where the tailgate came open on a trip back from a group week end.
I had not locked the latches and they both worked open...
To be told by overtaking cars that the tail gate was open was an unpleasant surprise....

Re: CUB camper side access hatch latch/locking mechanism
Hi everyone, thanks for the replies, I always keep the hatch locked & it keeps coming open on corrugations, Cant have that this trip, sick of gaffer taping it up & then ripping off. For the record I contacted CUB in Brisbane & they advised that Arrow caravans in Brissy can do CUB repairs so I'm taking it over on Sat to get it fixed once & for all. So long as it stays shut & the latch doesn't stick we'll be very happy campers on the Burke Dev Rd! Will post outcome & cost, cheers
Re: CUB camper side access hatch latch/locking mechanism
You don't say what model of Cub it is, Moseyroc. We are currently trying to decide whether or not it is worth going the full offroad model or buy a tourer model with an offroad kit . I wonder if the latches are more robust on the offroad models for this very reason.
