Coil springs for old Cub

Post by beane66 » Sun Aug 18, 2024 2:20 pm

My camper is a Cub Drover 1999 model. It has indepndent coil spring suspension, with cast trailing arms from Carter Wesco. Wondering if anyone can suggest a supplier for replacement coils? Or what coils might be compatible? I've tried a few of the major suppliers, and I've asked Cub, but no help so far.
Thanks.

Hi Bean,

Lovells supply camper trailer coil suspension upgrades https://lovellssp.com.au/product-catego ... n-upgrade/

They may be able to match the coil diameter, coil outside diameter, length & ATM to suit?

Please let us know how you go?

Hello Rob,

Thanks for responding. I did contact Lovells in an email, but the trailer info just got a "We can't help you." Sadly the same with a number of other spring companies, and CUB. But I will try again with spring dimensions.

Appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Rob

Hi Rob,

I just contacted someone I know at Cub & he suggested you remove a coil & take it to Recpo, Pedders or similar, to see if they can find a supplier for you. There must be a match of similar coils for a vehicle.

Hope this helps.

Hello Rob,

Its taken a while, but I finally have new coils in my Cub. I removed the better coil and took it to Pedders in Wagga. They were extremely helpful, and were eventually able to match them (LH Torana 6cyl front coils) Interestingly, when I removed the "sagged" coil, it wasn't the same - it was thinner diameter rod, so it was never going to sit level. Anyway, all back together.

Thanks for your help!
Rob

Hi Rob,

Well it looks as though there may have been previous sagging problems? Pleased to hear you finally found a solution & thanks for posting with the results. I have given Cub your feedback too.

Hope to catch up with you sometime around the campfire.
