Outback

Post by Fab&Mon » Mon Dec 12, 2016 1:31 pm

Hi all , we are planning a trip to Alice . Through Adelaide then up to Uluru from there to kings Canyon then up to Alice to see friends .
So we have planed to drive to Adelaide through Mildura , after a few days in the Barossa Valley up to Port Augusta and up to Uluru the Kings Canyon and finally to Alice . My question is if anyone has done this trip if they have any advice or tips , we r still trying to figure out our return as we only have 4 weeks we plan on departing Sydney on 18 April just after Easter which I think the weather will be more bearable . Thank you all in advance

Also Merry Xmas to all and may 2017 be filled with happiness and good health for all

Regards

G'day Fab&Mon, I suppose you are tenting it or towing a camper, and I get the impression you have not taken a trip like this before. Four weeks for a trip like that is not a long time. I would plan to spend 2-3 full days at "The Rock" and at least 1 full day at kings canyon. You will require at least a couple of days to visit the sites along the loop from the canyon to Alice. Then once you're at Alice more time is required with your friends and sight seeing [lots to see]. On your way back I suggest you give the Oodnadatta track a run. I would suggest you are quite conservative on how far you plan to to travel each day and leave yourself some wriggle room for following reasons. People tend to over estimate how far they can get in a day. You want to enjoy yourself and not be tired. You need to allow time to look at places you discover. You need a little wriggle time if you have a minor problem. Just a few things I think you should consider, otherwise you can't help but have a great trip where you are headed. Kerry

Hi Fab & Mon,

The http://www.whereis.com website is useful in working out travelling times between locations.

Thank you and Happy New Year Wattazuk you are quite right there is a lot of places I had to delete from the list due to time , We'll just have to concentrate on the main towns for the trip up and if we have time on the return trip see the smaller towns , much appreciated that you took the time to read and reply :D

Happy New Year Robcaz thank you that's an excellent map thank you again :D
