rebirthing a camper all too easy

Hi all,

Just a little feedback from a member who has his camper trailer listed on the stolen campers page http://www.campertrailers.org/stolen.htm

He writes...... A camper trailer can be easily rebirthed in Queensland by just removing the VIN plate & then getting a roadworthy & statement from a registered examiner.

Upon the receipt of the roadworthy the authority will issue a VIN & the trailer is rebirthed. This is too easy for those who would rather steal for a living as the risk and punishment is minimal.

The person & his group who stole our camper has allegedly stole around 90 other camper trailers making a lot of money through this very weak registration process.

If caught the penalty is two years imprisonment which can be reduced with good behaviour.

It is about time the rules or laws governing the above process is lightened to stop the theft of camper trailers & their easy resale.
happy camping
