 Myall River Camp weekend

myall river camp weekend

Saturday 15th to Sunday 16th February 2020

The weekend of 15th & 16th February saw 32 couples attend the annual River Camp on the Myall River out of Hawks Nest. After what started as a weekend where we thought the weather would play a major part in the activities on hand, we were actually blessed. Ten couples turned up on the Thursday afternoon and all enjoyed a rain free evening around a “fire” with plenty of stories being told.

Saturday also provided fine weather and all gathered on the river front for a Valentines Dinner that night. After many discussions regarding the impending storms in the area it was decided not to erect the Gazebos that were requested (Cookie you were wrong). Thanks to Dave Cook and Wilko for bringing them. Thanks all for supplying the nibbles and salads that were provided and also those that did the cooking. I feel that a great night was held by all.

Sunday also provided fine weather which enabled people to enjoy the river, the beach and the town shops. Another night around fires was enjoyed by all. Monday again was threatened by rain however this held off until most had packed and were leaving for home.

During some discussions we found that a well known member of our group did have a nick name that most of us were not aware of. Yes the one and only Greg Bush was called “Big Block” in his younger days after the size of his motor in his Hot Rod that he raced. Yes they said he had plenty of TORQUE !!!!! even then.

Thanks again for all who attended this meet particularly those for the first time. John and Wendy from Legge’s Camp, Barry and Kerrie Kotrill, the Lacey family, Sharon Zammit, Wim and Judy Schneider from Brisbane, we hope to see you at future meets throughout the year.

A special thanks to Cheryl and Vince from the River Camp for their hospitality and because of the weather allowing us to vary sites than what was originally planned.

Anyone camping at the River Camp during the year should mention that they are from the Camper Trailer Group as this does help in our organisation of this meet each year.

Thanks also to everyone for attending.
