NSW
newnes weekend
Saturday 5th to Sunday 6th May, 2013

Rob & Carol hosted a
CamperTrailers Group members get together on the weekend of Saturday 4th to Sunday
5th May
2013 on the grassy river flat opposite the old pub, known as the Newnes
Historic Wilderness Retreat
http://www.lisp.com.au/~newnes at Newnes near
Lithgow NSW. There was room for around twenty-five comfortably spaced
campsites. Members had traveled from far a field as Wollongong, Orange, Tamworth
& Newcastle.
The weekend was bathed in glorious
autumn sunshine with cool nights for close encounters
around the campfire. While a frost was forecast for the
Saturday morning, it wasn't until Monday morning we woke
to a white carpet over the campground.
While some members took the
opportunity to explore the remains of the old shale oil
works not too far from camp, others drove to the 'glow
worm tunnel' which is an abandoned rail tunnel that used
to transport the processed shale oil. There was also
plenty of sitting around in the sun & catching up with
old friends or meeting new ones.
