WHERE. At the Poplar Flat campground in the Goomburra section, part of the Main Range National Park, situated in the Goomburra valley between Warwick and Cunningham’s Gap, on the North side of the highway. http://www.derm.qld.gov.au/parks/main-range/about.html

WHEN. The weekend of Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th July. This is after the Qld school holidays.

MAKING ARRANGEMENTS. Bookings must be made online before the weekend on the EPA website
https://www.epa.qld.gov.au/parks/iaparks/gds/IAGDS050.jsp?quickParkId=10

CAMPING. We will be camping at the Poplar Flat camping area which is the first large area as you enter the park. This is a beautiful flat site alongside Dalrymple Creek with shady trees on one side and open sunny grass sites.

COST. Camping fees are $5.15 per person per night or $20.60 per family per night. A family group is up to two adults and accompanying children under 18, up to a total of eight people. Children under five are free.

GETTING THERE. Follow the road North about 9.5 Km to Goomburra, then turn right into Inverramsay Rd which becomes Forestry Reserve Rd towards the campgrounds. On the way you will pass Janowen 4WD Park, Goomburra Valley Campground and Gordon’s Country, just keep on going until you reach the end.

THE ROAD. The road is narrow bitumen until the last 6 km which is unsealed but ok for 2wd vehicles unless there has been heavy rain.

THINGS TO BRING. Lots of warmth, we expect it to be near freezing at night, lots & lots of firewood for cooking and heating, drinking water & warming beverages are required.

WATER. Please bring your own drinking water. Tap water provided but must be boiled or chemically treat before drinking.

CAMPFIRES. All fires must be in designated fireplaces, not on the ground. Elevated barbecues and braziers that use heat beads are permitted provided the ground underneath them is protected.

FIREWOOD. Please bring firewood along.

TOILETS. Composting toilets available.

SHOWER. There are no showers available.

PHONE COVERAGE. There is no phone coverage in the area.

DOGS. No dogs are allowed in the national park.

BINS. Please take your rubbish with you.

THINGS TO DO. Saturday will start with a get to know you morning tea, followed by a “show and tell” tour of group members campers if anybody wants to, so have all of your toys and modifications ready to show.

There are some scenic drives from the campground to some lookouts in the National Park with great views towards Brisbane. Alternate drives to Allora and to explore the surrounding area can also be done.

This is a great way to meet the faces behind the typing. All you need is a few coldies or warming brews for around the evening fire & a good sense of humour. For those members without a camper of their own it gives you a chance to get a first hand unbiased opinion of a particular camper trailer.

Please keep in mind that the group owners will not accept any responsibility for members & non-members actions during the weekend get together.

If you decide to attend, it is solely at your own responsibility, including any side trips or outings during the weekend meet.
