If you wish to attend the get together at Shallow Crossing please add your name to the POLL

YOUR HOSTS for the weekend will be Greg & Marge.

WHERE. At Shallow Crossing where the River Road crosses the Clyde River approx 30km west of Batemans Bay NSW.

WHEN. The weekend of 24th Saturday, Sunday 25th of September. This is the first weekend of the school holidays in NSW. Victoria is also on holidays and anyone from south of the border would be more than welcome to join us.

Greg & Marge will be staying on after the weekend until probably about Thursday the 27th or Friday the 28th and would welcome anyone else staying on as well.

GETTING THERE. Shallow Crossing can be accessed from the Princes Highway at East Lynne or from the Kings Highway, Nelligen.

THE ROAD. The road is well formed dirt suitable for all vehicles. Extreme care should be taken if driving on these roads after rain as they can become very slippery when wet.

CAMPING. We will be camping along the banks of the Clyde River on private property owned by Jim Surry.

COST. $7.00 per night per person ....... $5.00 for kids

FIREWOOD. Campfires are allowed & there is plenty of wood available.

TOILETS. Toilets available.

SHOWER. Hot showers are available.

DOGS. dogs are welcome, so long as they are contained and not running around loose.

POWER. There are no powered sites.

THINGS TO DO.

Saturday afternoon run. Your hosts Greg & Marge will be organizing a 4wd run on the Saturday afternoon to the

lookout where you can see to Batemans Bay, the Castle & Pigeon House Mountains, then on to an old gold mine which still has some of the equipment laying around.

Maybe a camp oven cooking competition on the Saturday night with the results all put on the table for all to sample.

Any other ideas would be welcome.

Fishing. The crossing is the divider between fresh water coming down the river and salt tidal water coming up from the ocean. If you are into fishing you can fish fresh or salt water species.

Canoeing. Jim has canoes for hire for those who would like to do some canoeing or even fishing.

Driving. There are some great drives along fire trails and dirt roads. Definitely not 2wd. The area is mostly State Forest with private land along the river, and it is not far from the famous Pigeon House Mountain and the Castle.

Bushwalking. There are numerous walks for those who prefer something a little more active.

Gold Mine. There is also an old Gold Mine we could check out.

Lookout. A great lookout.

Wildlife. Lyrebirds, Scrub Wallaby's, Echidna's, wombats, Kangaroo's and many other types of birdlife.

This is a great way to meet the faces behind the typing. All you need is a few coldies for around the evening fire & a good sense of humour.

For those members without a camper of their own it gives you a chance to get a first hand unbiased opinion of a particular camper trailer.

Please keep in mind that the group owners will not accept any responsibility for members & non-members actions during the weekend get together.

If you decide to attend, it is solely at your own responsibility, including any side trips or outings during the weekend meet.
