NSW
upper
colo reserve weekend
Saturday 17th to Sunday 18th March, 2012

A little rain didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the forty
camper trailer owners who attended the CamperTrailers Group’s Upper Colo
Reserve weekend get together near Richmond NSW hosted by Rob & Carol for
their forth consecutive year. Those that arrived on the Friday were greeted
by temperatures in the mid thirties, however after the change during the
night, Saturday dawned with showers that lasted all day which definitely was
not a solar panel day. After one of the wettest summers on record, there was
little doubt it would rain at some time over the weekend.
The Colo River was higher than previous years & we were
lucky to have the weekend as scheduled owning to heavy flooding rain in the
weeks leading up to the event. This had put serious doubts on the weekend
being held & possibly postponed to another time.
It was great to catch up with all our old CamperTrailers friends as well as
meet the members who were attending their first weekend. While most wandered
around the reserve looking over the camper trailers & the modifications that
had been done to make camping life all the more enjoyable, others sat under
awnings chatting & staying dry.
Saturday afternoon happy hour was held undercover in
the shelter which was just large enough to accommodate everyone out of the
drizzle.
Luckily the cloud lifted to sunshine on Sunday which
gave the canvas time to dry before pack up time. Unfortunately those that
stayed on for another night had a wet canvas to take home to dry.
Highlight of the weekend would have to be the koala
that was spotted in a nearby tree by Sue. He was not camera shy & seemed to
soak up the attention posing like the icon he is.
The CamperTrailers Group's weekends
are a great way to meet the face behind the typing. Members without a camper
are more than welcome to come along & get
a first hand unbiased opinion of a particular camper trailer from their
owners. You might meet as complete strangers on the Friday evening, but will
part old friends such is the camaraderie.
