The Australian CamperTrailers
Group's 19th national meet was held at the Ariah Park Showground,
Ariah Park, in the Riverina region of New South Wales, 65 kilometres
south of West Wyalong from Monday 29th September to Friday 3rd October
2025.
The Group’s national meet sticker this year featured grain as the
background as Ariah Park
is the birthplace of bulk grain handling in Australia. On the 27th September
1916 Australia bulk wheat was loaded onto a train for the first time. In
1919 wheat silos were built beside the railway line.
The week attracted 141 people in 65 camper
trailers, caravans, motorhomes & tents. It was great to see such a diverse group of people attending
from all walks of life enjoying the camaraderie of like-minded people.
As usual around fifty percent of members arrive on the Friday when gates
open.
The weather was variable as it can be at this time of year with the
change in seasons, from days
with a top of 31 degrees before a gusty change came through dropping the
temperature to the high teens. We had a few spits of rain during the week, a little hail,
but zero recorded in the local rain gauge. The evenings were cool to cold
with groups gathering around the campfires to chat. A big thanks to the Ariah Park Showground for supplying firewood.
monday morning
opening
The Monday morning
opening started the weeks activities. Kevin Phillips welcomed members & went on to
tell of the groups Yahoo beginnings in September 2001 & how the group has
grown to the present day owing to the popularity of camper trailers,
although most own all types of camping accommodation,
including the popular crossover style of camper trailers &
caravans. The
group has progressed from the old Yahoo days to a Forum &
a Facebook
Group for members to exchange tips, tricks & travel information.
The Mayor of Temora Shire Council, Councillor Rick Firman
OAM welcomed the Australian CamperTrailers Group
to Ariah Park & wished all a
pleasant visit to the region. He announced that if members wore their CamperTrailers lanyards to the
Bundawarrah Centre which housed the rural & ambulance
museums on Thursday it would
be only $5 entry. He also made sure to let everyone know
where his men's wear shop was in Temora. Byran Marshall from the Ariah
Park Showground land management welcomed members & thanked the
group for choosing Ariah Park as the venue.
Rob Sanderson described the events
& workshops over the week hosted by members
& invited guests on
a variety of subjects relating to camper trailers & camping in general.
Jason Cox outlined the showground
housekeeping over the week.
Barry & Margaret Pierce
finished the opening off by hosting a
'Getting to Know You' with members
attending their first national meet introducing themselves.
The Australian CamperTrailers Groups 19th national meet was then
declared officially opened & members invited into the pavilion for
tea or coffee.
