introduction
The Australian CamperTrailers
Group's 14th national meet was held in the Bungendore Showground
over the week from Monday 1st to Friday 5th October 2018. Bungendore
is located on the Kings Highway around forty kilometres east of Canberra ACT
in the NSW Southern Tablelands.
The week attracted eighty camper
trailers, caravans, motorhomes, slide-ons & tents with one-hundred &
eighty
people from as far a field as the South Australia,
Victoria, Queensland & Tasmania. It was great to see such a diverse group of people attending, from young couples, families, retirees to grandparents with
their grandkids, all enjoying the camaraderie of like-minded people.
While the nights were chilly with
a couple of frosty mornings, the
days were mostly warm & sunny, however a cool change midweek & a few spots of
rain didn't spoil the fun.
A big thanks goes to
the Bungendore Showground for supplying the much needed firewood to
keep everyone warm during the cold evenings.
monday morning
opening
For something a little
different the opening was held on Monday morning. Kevin Phillips welcomed members & went on to
tell of the groups beginnings in September 2001 & how the group has
grown to the present day, owing to the popularity of camper trailers. The campertrailers.org
website has three medias for members to exchange tips,
tricks & travel information, namely the long running Yahoo Group, a Forum
& a Facebook
Group.
Rotary Club Present Garry Cook welcomed the Australian CamperTrailers Group
to Bungendore & wished all a
pleasant visit to the region.
Rob Sanderson described the itinerary for the week with events & workshops hosted by members
or invited guests on
a variety of subjects relating to camper trailers & camping in general.
Jason Cox went on to outline the showground
housekeeping over the week.
Twenty Mister Hitches T bubble levels, donated by Steve Nicholson from
Intertrade Holdings Pty Ltd, were drawn as lucky door prizes.
Joy and Dave Wilkinson
finished the opening by hosting a
'Getting to Know You' session with members
attending their first national meet introducing themselves.
The Australian CamperTrailers Groups 14th national meet was declared
officially open. Members were then invited into the kitchen pavilion for
tea or coffee.
