We enjoyed lone piper Bob Cail as we ate 
breakfast. A big thanks to the Glen Innes Pipe Band. Also on hand to oversee the 
	proceedings was the Glen Innes Chamber of Commerce colourful Celtic Chairman 
	Howard Eastman. 
	
		community stalls & activities
A number of stalls were organised in the 
showground by the Glen Innes Tourist Information. They included local artist 
Mike Gilbert, a cake stall manned by Betty, Iris & Jan, Glen Innes Smeatons

	shed open day
	The 
	Glen Innes Men's Shed opened its doors so members could see what it was all 
	about. The modern Men’s Shed is an updated version of the shed in the 
	backyard that has long been a part of Australian culture. Not only is it a 
	place for men to learn skills from one another, but where they can also take 
	an interest in their own health & well-being in an atmosphere of 
	old-fashioned mateship.

	Hardie was on hand with some of his beautiful inlay work all of which was 
	for sale.

	Local shearer Steve Dunn 
		demonstration his shearing skills on several sheep which were provided 
		by local grazier Dick Hartmann. On hand was Glen Innes Showground 
		Trustee Chairman Mike Condon to talk us through the process & to answer 
		the many questions asked.

	Peter Hartwig hosted a soft floor 
(softies) V's hard floor (tin billycans) camper trailer disc bowl competition. 
	Winners were the tin billys.

	The seventh annual soft 
floor 
(softies) V's hard floor (tin billycans) camper trailer boles competition was 
played hosted by George Mavros.  The hard floors finally won the trophy with expert play from 
	Mal Lacey & Greg Carthew.
	
	sheep dog trials
	With sheep once again provided by local 
grazier Dick Hartman, the dogs of Garry Barker & Errol Brettschnider were put 
through their paces on a set timed course. Just to show how hard it really is 
Mike asked for several volunteers from the kids with a parent. It was funny to 
see Terry Agland telling the kids what to do in getting the sheep through the 
barriers. Thanks to Mike Condon for organising this event & to answer the many 
questions.

	Alex & Jill Benham hosted a 
	kids treasure hunt. Armed with a list of clues, the kids had to find places 
	within the showground. Prizes were awarded to those who had covered the most 
	places.

	hosted a barefoot bowls, darts & croquet competition at the local bowling 
	club.

	Kevin Beattie jumped into the role 
		of DJ providing the evenings entertainment. $96 was raised in gold coin 
		donation which was for the Glen Innes Men's Shed.
