Tips For Free Stops. Brisbane to Birdsville thru NSW to SA

Planning on trip alone from Brisbane to Birdsville , thru Broken Hill to Port Lincoln, Streaky Bay, Ceduna, Flinders Ranges back to Brisbane. No time limit, wanna use free camp sites, enjoy looking at steel art and would appreciate tips of good places for fuel as some places just wanna rip us off . Anyway any tips would be appreciated.
