This might be an unusual question. I current camp a few times each year using a tent - just by myself and as far from people as I can get (around the Brisbane area). I have quite a setup and it all pretty much needs a trailer now to haul my current system around. So in the first instance I am looking for a basic box trailer for this purpose. I also need a trailer to take rubbish to the dump, move furniture, etc. ie a normal 6x4 box trailer.
I have also wanted a camper tailer for some time, but have been put off by several things. Obviously the cost. But there are other considerations.
- the weight. I only have a smallish car (Ford Laser 1.6l)
- storage. I have to leave the trailer outside in front of my house. Not on the street, but almost. A box trailer might be ok, but a camper trailer is asking to be stolen.
- time to erect. Probably not that much faster than a tent based system.
I have been wondering if I can get a basic 6x4 box trailer for the normal trailer duties. Then have an addon tent 'module' that I can drag out and put in the trailer for those few times a year I want to go camping.
Can I get a camper trailer + normal trailer?

Hi kneighbour,
If you kept the camper trailer tent to a basic small model like Oztrail's Camper 6 Camper Trailer Tent & attached the bed base to the trailer with the larger sized over centre clamps you could make a trolley to sit the tent & bed base in vertically to wheel it into the garage when not in use.
Other than that you could just put a hard top or tradesman butterfly lid on the trailer so your gear is secure.
Some members have put a rooftop tent on their trailers http://www.campertrailers.org/colo0937.jpg

Welcome to the forum, Neighbour.
I agree with Rob.
There are a couple of manufacturers that supply just the tent that you can add to your own trailer.
