Australian
CamperTrailers Group
2022 national get
together
at
Walcha NSW
the week
workshops &
activities
The workshops & events began from the
Monday after lunch with members & invited guests hosting a number
of workshops on a variety of subjects relating to camper trailers, travel &
camping in general. Being an internet based group there are subjects where the
information cannot be easily exchanged through typing & this is where the
national meet gives the perfect opportunity for face to face workshops.
Workshops presented by members
included emergency first aid by Roger Duck, thermal cooker cooking
by Rob & Carol Sanderson, ladies cuppa & chat hosted by Carol
Sanderson, camper trailer wheel bearing maintenance by Rob
Sanderson, managing & editing your photos by Greg Conlon, Cobb
Cooker by Gus & Jill Skinner, camper walkabout with Dave Cook, a
show & tell, exchanging travelling, camping & cooking ideas with Rob
& Carol Sanderson, vehicle weights & limits by Kevin Phillips,
caravan walkabout with Kevin Phillips, poets corner with George
Mavros & Keith Brown, chainsaw sharpening by Rob Sanderson & Warren
Marshall. There was a portable
weighing scales demonstration from invited guests Mid North Scales
Heavy Vehicles.
The auction night is always a fun
evening as members bid on various items. This year saw 107
items donated by members.
Among the guests were the Walcha Mayor Eric Noakes &
wife Sheree, Walcha Showground Trust Secretary Allan Green & wife,
Colleen along
with Vicki McIvor president of the Country Women's Association.
Auctioneer Mat Larkings provided plenty of entertainment throughout the evening
along with his young family.
A genuine left handed screwdriver donated by Richardson's Home
Timber & Hardware in Walcha managed a good price of $220 in a hot bidding
competition, no doubt because of its rarity. On a side note George
framed the screwdriver & presented it to the hardware shop.
A quilt donated by the Walcha Quilters Group raised $280.
$4,375 was raised with proceeds donated to the Walcha Community
Support Group which is the largest donation they have received. This
money will go directly into the community where it is needed the
most in helping people who have
debilitating diseases, relieving some of the stress associated with
their ill health.
The popular trivia night hosted by
Dave & Joy Wilkinson along with Dave & Jan Cook was well attended
once again. The perpetual trivia trophy is held by the winning team.
Entry was by gold coin donation with proceeds
donated to the Walcha Community Support Group.
During the week there was a
drop bear hunt organised by Kathleen & Fiona.
