		geological history walk
Dave Cook conducted a geological history
walk. Approximately 20 inquisitive souls attended the two seminars on the
geological and natural history of Eastern Australia, centred on the Wellington
district. The first seminar gathered at the Wellington Caves car park. They then
headed for a 500m walk into a nearby paddock where, using the geological
evidence around them, a discussion took place on the evolution of the Eastern
Australian landmass, from its origins around a line from the current Broken Hill
– Mt Isa about 600 million years ago the continent grew to the eastward, under
the processes of plate tectonics. Modern examples of such processes were
discussed and then everyone adjourned to the nearby hillside to sample fossils
from a 410 million year old coral reef preserved in the limestones in which the
nearby caves were later formed.

		boles competition
The forth annual soft
floor
(softies) V's hard floor (tin billycans) camper trailer boles competition was
played.  The hardies were victorious once again with
George & Wendy Mavros
taking out the trophy over Chris Rogers & grand daughter
			Rachael.
Thanks to sweeper Helen for clearing the ground with a palm frond so the players
could see the jack.

		snake handler

The Lions once again provide more entertainment with snake handler Paul Kirk
showing us a range of snakes from yellow bellied & red bellied blacks,
a brown, tiger, taipan & a death adder. He showed how to wrap up an arm
incase of snakebite & the importance of leaving the bite unwashed so the
hospital can identify the snake from the venom. He then produced several types of
pythons which he dropped onto the shoulders of people standing around
		the portable snake pit.

		happy hour,
book swap, sell or swap camping gear & kids treasure hunt
A happy hour was held on the
Wednesday afternoon which incorporated a book
swap, sell & swap camping gear & also a kids treasure hunt.

		auction &
		dance

The evenings entertainment was started with swing music by the Wellington Town
Band, followed by local musician Jono who played a variety of hits from
the 60's & 70's. During the break Rob auctioned off a number of items
donated by members of the group to raise money for the Lions. Items
included  a wheel clamp, Hilift jack, 12volt impact wrench, folding
table, BEST water filter, JTS cap & stubby holder, CamperTrailers Group
flag, & a Graham Cahill autograph to name a few.
		It wasn't long until managing
editor of the Wellington Times, Farren Hotham, a registered auctioneer,
took the mike & livened things up with his antics. All up the group
managed to raise $1,528 for the Lions.  The music from Jono then
		continued.
