		Australian CamperTrailers
		national meet at Condobolin
		2010

friday
camper trailer walkabout     Dave Cook once again
hosted another well attended camper trailer walkabout. Members give a brief talk
on what they like about their camper, points they don't like & modifications
they have done or they would like to do to make camping all that more
enjoyable.    magnet
making for the kids     Tracey
Smidt held a magnet making workshop for the kids. This involved
colouring line drawing sketches and gluing these onto a fridge magnet.
There were plenty of variations. Some of the girls decorated their bikes
		with their creations.       uhf radio
A workshop was given by Kevin Beckwith. Workshops like this gives members the chance to get face to face, one on
one feedback, rather than the usual quetions & replies via the
		CamperTrailers Group.
Kevin Beckwith started the session discussing the aspects of UHF use as a means
of communicating between vehicles travelling together   or other road
users. He then went on to aerials & the different types & their suitability in
different types of terrain.     closing
		ceremony      Friday afternoon saw
the closing ceremony. Kevin thanked everyone for their attendance. Mayor
Mainwaring once again attended and thanked us for choosing Condobolin as the
venue of our national meet and hoped we all had a great time and a safe trip
home. He extended an invitation to plan a revisit at some stage.     Kevin and Rob
presented over $1000 in money that had been raised through raffles, the trivia
night and auction, to Rob Baxter president of the Lions. He thanked us for our
generosity and hoped we would come back again.     Kevin & Rob thanked
the Condobolin Lions for supplying the firewood over the week and also councilor
Marg Weales for making sure everything went smoothly during our stay.      Rob went on to hand
out certificates of appreciation to members who had given their time in hosting
workshops.      Alan Haworth donated
six locks and vinyl coated coil cables which were raffled off. Alan drew the six
winning tickets.     Over the week members
were encouraged to nominate someone for 'The Person Who Most Represents the
Group' award. Neil and Margaret Morton had donated a perpetual trophy which
Margaret presented to Dave Cook. Dave has a fantastic time at the weekend meets
as well as the national meets and was nominated for his enthusiasm and in the
way he has promoted the group.     Another award
presented was the ‘Condobolin Capers’ award which is for the most embarrassing
or funniest moment during the week. This went to Colin and Libin Lu and family.
On the Wednesday morning they drove into town looking for the ‘Lions Club’ and
asked locals the location of it as they were cooking breakfast for them. They
were told there was no ‘Lions Club’ in town, so they decided that they would go
back to camp and cook their own breakfast. On returning to the showground they
saw a long line up to the Lions Caravan. On asking what was going on, they were
told this was the queue for the cooked breakfast by the Lions Club.     Rob and Kevin
welcomed Jason Cox onboard as a co-owner and moderator of the forum.      At this stage in
proceedings the location of next years national meet had not been decided.
See ya all next year. Rob
