thursday travelling &
schooling      A workshop on the topic of
schooling kids while travelling was presented by Narelle Stacey. There are many
families these days making the best of the opportunity while the kids are young
to travel Australia or perhaps extended holidays using long service leave over a
number of months. Continuing the kids education is just as important as taking
in the sites.    storybook
making     About 15 kids
attended the storybook workshop held by Carol &
Suzanna Lawler along with Karren & Allie Robson. Each child got to
choose a workbook either blank or pre worded "During school holidays I
went camping at Condo...... and met new friends..." etc     The children could
choose to draw, stick pictures, stickers or a combination or all three to
express themselves to create their own workbook. The hour went quickly and the
children seemed to enjoy it.   pamper
session for women      A large number of
ladies and young girls joined in on Carol's pamper session, a trained Mary
Kay consultant.  After a few games to break the ice she went on to give
everyone a go at a mini facial along with a legs & arms pamper. One game had five
prizes & the other one prize.    wheel
bearing maintenance       Rob Sanderson held
his camper trailer wheel bearing workshop for the 5th year. Maintaining your own
camper wheel bearings is something anybody can do & Rob showed just how easy it
was.     He disassembled the
camper trailer hub showing the parts, then told of what to look for in checking the bearing races for heat
discoloration, pitting, scoring & any unevenness. While he had everything apart
he showed how to check the axle for cracks where the machining of the stub begins.     He then showed the
technique to push grease into the races & reassembled the hub & the process of
tightening the nut. cooking with
alternative heat sources      Carolyn Davis loves
to cook while camping and uses a variety of heat sources. The workshop gave
members an idea of how to go about cooking in the great outdoors using different
heat sources like gas, coals from the fire, including the different vessels that
hold heatbeads like the Volcano she had imported from the USA.
